2010 Spring BBQ Blast
IMG_0535TBIPAC hosted their 2010 BBQ Blast and Southern Style Cruisers Car Show, held at Paragon Casino and Resort. There were a total 17 bbq contestants total this year, who came from all over the gulf region. The contest categories were bbq chicken, brisket, ribs and best sauce. Overall, Smokin’ Lipps took home the grand champion prize, as well as best chicken 1st place. Tee Wayne’s Cajun Cookin’ earned the title of reserve grand champion, as well as capturing first place in two categories – Pork Spare Ribs and Brisket. First place in best sauce was won by Vincent Perez, of One Shot One Kill.

Obama speaks at 2009 Tribal Nations Conference

As part of President Obama’s sustained outreach to the American people, this conference will provide leaders from the 564 federally recognized tribes the opportunity to interact directly with the President and representatives from the highest levels of his Administration.  Each federally recognized tribe has been invited to send one representative to the conference.

He also discussed how tribes face the same kinds of challenges all of America faces, and how he plans to address those challenges.  In closing, he made clear that he is an ally:

The article noted that those kind of figures place overall Indian gaming among Fortune magazine's 20 most profitable corporations. Those type of earnings exceed the combined holdings of J.P. Morgan Chase & Co., Merrill Lynch, American Express and Lehman Brothers!

This show, sponsored by the Paragon and Vaughn Motors and hosted by the Southern Style Cruisers Classic Car Club, is held to raise money for charities that affect the Central Louisiana community. The past two shows have raised a total of 5000 for the "I Wish" Foundation that's made possible by the Louisiana State Police.
